Hawksmoor Spitalfields

Steak treat

Porterhouse

Hawksmoor Spitafields was the very first Hawksmoor which was opened back in 2006, now a successful restaurant group with 6 sites across London, it is now regarded as one of the finest steak house in the capital. I haven eaten at its bar a few years ago and was really impressed with its burgers and cocktails, so a proper visit to the original Hawksmoor has always been on my mind. For dinner you only get an a la carte menu, with a large selection cut of steaks to chose from, along with a small alternative such as chicken and fish dishes.

My starter of steak tartare was really well seasoned, the mustard offset the richness with a mild sweetness on the back note. We had a giant Porterhouse cut at 900g, but I estimated that over 150g was the T bone. The fillet side of the Porterhouse had a stunning melt-in-your-mouth texture sensation, nicely seasoned with a great depth of richness. The strip cut had a great balance ratio of fat on the edge, together with the smoky meat aroma made it totally irresistible, it was indeed sensational. The triple cooked chips were as good as ever, it had such a crispy and crunch edge with a delightful softness on the inside. Overall, the dinner lived up to my expectation and I would be more than happy to return.
