Le Celadon |
Le Celadon is a 1 Michelin starred restaurant in the heart of central Paris, the cooking is modern French in principle, with some small creative touches. Headed up by chef Christophe Moisand, who used to be the second in command at the 3 starred Le Meurice by Alain Ducasse. On the weekend, Le Celadon is re branded to Le Petit CĂ©ladon and offer a price fixed a la carte menu: For 63 Euros, it offers a 3 course menu with half a bottle of wine, water, coffee and petit four. Sound a real bargain and you can even use it in the evening. Many top end restaurants in Paris do not open on Sunday so Le Celadon is an excellent choice, not to mention the decor is stylish and elegant which make you feel like a special someone when you dine in this restaurant.

My starter of the pig head croquettes might not look fancy on a plate, but flavours totally delivered, it was rich and moist with a perfect crispy texture, good enough without needing any of the tartare sauce that was served together. The smoked salmon and crab showcased the restaurant would only use the finest ingredients, I could really taste the freshness and seaside aroma from the seafood. My main of cod was smooth and moist, and it worked it worked beautifully with the kale and salsify, but perhaps a touch too much with its seasoning. Confit shoulder of milk lamb was truly top notch, the meat was super tender and packed of rich meaty flavours. The tarte tatin was simply faultless, the pastry had the perfect crunchy texture and not a single trace of oiliness, the baked pear was also outstanding, it offered just the right level of sweetness with a soft smoky undertone.

To sum it up, the lunch without question, was worth its Michelin rating, some well refined dishes, all presented in an eye-catching manner. Service was also top class, it was a very busy lunch service but the head waiter managed to keep everything in orders, with good eyes for detail and very knowledgeable, the touch of friendly humour also made us feel very comfortable through the whole meal. There is also a cocktail bar called The Duke Bar at the back of the restaurant, which serves classic cocktails in a very sophisticated British setting. Do keep an eye on the booking service The Folk if you are planning a visit to Le Celadon, as it occasionally offers some special on-line offer.
